![]() ![]() I set everything to ultra except for textures which I set to HIGH (yes I know it says 3gb vram recommended) and ran the benchmark. I just got my hands on Middle Earth: Shadows of Mordor and took it for a test drive on my 960. ![]() TWEAK GTX 960 PERFORMANCE FULLSo it seems the gpu is bottlenecked on a g3258 stock 3.2gz but once you hit 4ghz it runs at full tilt in firestrike. As you can see by my comparison above, I gain about 1000 graphics points and 500 overall points with my system OCed. Overclocked it catches up and overtakes even mildly overclocked 770s on the same CPU. Bare in mind my 960 is factory overclocked and in a lot of benchmarks I have done it matched a stock 770 2gb (futuremark result scores when I search g3258 + gtx 770, I don't have one to test). My graphics score goes up to about ~7900 when I OC the CPU to 4.2/4.3 without overclocking the GPU. 4.6 was not stable for me under 1.5v and I was not comfortable benchmarking at that high of a voltage. Yeah, the second score, 6601, was at 4.3ghz while the first, 6573 was at 4.5ghz or 4.4ghz (can't remember now), not 4.6 as I thought when I made this post. Thread contributors add this to your sig if you like They are great cards but the 290 is just more competitive with regards to price/performance. To be honest I would not waste my time with the R9 280/x and R9 285 cards as things stand, the R9 290 is close enough in price to make them moot and overclocked the GTX 960 can make up the performance difference. I would not recommend the R9 280 over the 4gb GTX 960 due to the fact that the GTX 960 outperforms it and can be overclocked significantly, however if you are comparing to the 2gb GTX 960 then it may be worth a look owing to its 3gb of VRAM if playing with higher quality textures in current and future titles is of great import to you. If low TDP and power requirements are not of interest to you then you may be better off with an R9 290 or R9 280x. TWEAK GTX 960 PERFORMANCE UPGRADELatest architecture with full DX12 supportĪ GPU for use in an HTPC or small form factor case where the GTX 750/ti just does not offer enough performance, itx models of the gtx960 perform just as well as their larger siblings.Īn upgrade for a system with a sub 500w (decent brand) PSU The GTX 960 is ideal for users looking for the following: If you are here because you are considering purchasing a GTX 960 then allow me to highlight some important info on these cards: ![]()
